Less exposure to radiation during dental x-rays - digital x-rays at our dental practice Dr. Paulsen in Bad Honnef near Bonn
In our dental practice we use only digital x-rays, as this offers our patients significant benefits compared to conventional x-ray devices:
90% reduction of radiation exposure compared to conventional x-rays.
Quick processing of images: the images appear on a monitor in seconds and can be analyzed by the treating physician. This means no waiting for the patient!
Environmentally friendly: Since x-rays are produced and processed digitally, there is no need for difficult to dispose of image carriers (transparencies) or chemicals.
Improved and quicker communication between different physicians. Digital x-rays can be made available to another dentist even at the other end of the world within seconds via e-mail.
The only disadvantage for the dentist is the high acquisition cost for digital x-ray devices. However, the health of my patients is worth it to me - the 90% reduction of exposure to radiation is a more than convincing argument!
An important caveat: Regardless whether conventional or digital: billing for x-rays remains the same for patients with health insurance as well as private pay patients. This means that the compulsory health insurance reimburses the cost for insured patients, whereas for private pay patients the usual rate for x-rays is invoiced.
